What's your order?

Have you ever been invited for a business lunch or dinner and encountered problems ordering your meal? What should I get? Is this too pricy? What is this meal about? I have encountered this akward moment a few times until I knew better. Just as these simple points have helped me, I hope it does the same for you. If and when you may be invited to have business meetings under such circumstance. Here's what you should know:

  • When in doubt, follow the lead of the host- At all times the Host (the person who invited you)should be first in ordering meals. According to what order is placed, then you are able to gage what your order should be. A full course or main course.

  • Don’t order the most expensive item- Although you were invited by the host, one should not take for granted that he/she has an exhuberant amount of cash. Use your discretion.

  • Order simply- nothing beats simplicity. Do not order food that can be messy or complicated to eat in a timely manner.

  • Avoid finger foods or difficult foods that are difficult to eat- Its not a social meeting, time is of essence; as such it doesn't permit you to eat at your own luxury.

  • In general, don’t order alcohol at a business meeting- Alcohol is a absolute NO NO!!
